Implants
These are titanium roots which can be placed into the jaw bone to replace a missing tooth or teeth. When the bone has grown around these roots a crown is placed onto the root. At this practice, owing to the special nature of the surgical procedure we refer patients for the surgical phase of the treatment.

    Crowns
Crowns are usually provided when the tooth has been heavily filled and more filling is not an option. They can also be used to alter shape and colour cosmetically. Typically Porcelain Fused to metal has been used, especially in the back of the mouth as these restorations are strong. More recent advances have enabled us to provide all porcelain restorations at the back of the mouth using CAD CAM technology. These are typically Procera and milled Zirconia. This eliminates the greyness of the porcelain fused to metal and is more aesthetically pleasing.

    Bridges
Bridges are provided to eliminate gaps and avoid the use of a denture. Typically in the back of the mouth, Porcelain fused to metal is used for strength as the teeth have to be joined together. Recent advances with Zirconia to replace the metal have given us a more cosmetic option as long as the span of the bridge does not exceed 42 mms.

    Whitening
This can change the colour of your natural teeth. It can be either a home or in Surgery treatment. At home 15% CarbamidePeroxide gel is used in prefabricated trays and the patient wears them, usually overnight. In surgery whitening is usually done with 38% Hydrogen Peroxide gel. Some Dental Practices advocate the use of a light source to activate the gel, however research has shown that this is not necessary and in this practice’s opinion only adds to the cost of the treatment. Home whitening is usually the treatment of choice but for a ‘quick fix’ in surgery whitening can give an instant result. In surgery whitening is often followed up by home whitening.

    Veneers
These are often described as ‘fingernails’ which are glued on to the front of teeth. They can be useful to correct colour, and discrepancies in crowded or gappy teeth as an alternative to Orthodontics.
